Parent and Me Introductory Chinese

This is an introductory Chinese language class for both parent and child to experience together! Basic Chinese vocabulary and culture will be taught through greetings, games, movement, stories, and more! Come and experience a taste of immersion education!

Parent and Me Chinese Cultural Cooking Class

Do you know that flour dough is the base for many kinds of delicious Chinese food? This class will be like fun “Play-Doh” time while you can transform flour dough into various food for your family to eat afterwards. We are excited to introduce 5 common dough-based “Dim Sum” with easy-to-get ingredients and have fun dough-time together!

Notes: This class consists of five 1-hour sessions through video conferencing. A basic “American” ingredient list, as well as instructions for some food prep, will be sent prior to the start of class. Parent involvement is welcomed and encouraged.

Chinese Chinese Character Picture Art

Did you know that Chinese characters were created using pictures? Also, the earliest written Chinese words were found on turtle shells! If you are interested in history and art, as well as the Chinese language, this is the class for you! We will turn Chinese characters into pictures based on their meanings.

In this class, I will guide you and teach you to make traditional Chinese dishes and desserts with common ingredients that you can find at home. Along with our cooking class, we will also explore the cultural background of each dish. Enjoy cultural stories while serving as a chef and cooking your family dinner!

CCC: Chinese Crafts & Culture

Have you ever made Chinese symmetrical paper-cutting before? Have you ever heard of a "Chinese kite" or painted a Beijing opera facial mask? Through our CCC spark class, you will not only be able to make these three crafts with your own hands, but also hear the stories behind them. Chinese Character Detective-to-be

Crafty Math!

The AdventuWriters

The AdventuWriters project will help us to write a great story in Spanish using lots of creative and strong techniques. We will enjoy some online tools that will help us recall the writing basics. Kitchen Sink Science

In this class, we'll use household items and everyday ingredients in fun, hands-on scientific inquiry. Students will use a simple scientific method to observe, investigate, and ask questions. Projects will include slimy substances and edible experiments!

Notes: This class consists of five 1-hour sessions through video conferencing. A supply list will be sent prior to the start of class. Ideally, students will have an adult available to help on occasion with measuring, managing materials, and/or cleanup.

Playful Poetry

Poetry is a fun and different way to engage with English reading and writing. We will explore various forms of poetry, including poems with silly wordplay, acrostic poems, and poems that use the senses.
