We Day 2014

6th grade students attended We Day, a large St. Paul event focused on students making a difference around the world. LILA students also made a difference here in MN, breaking last year's "We Scare Hunger" food drive record by 20lbs, for a total of 847lbs of food collected for Family Pathways.

  • LILA's Grand Opening and PYP Night was a huge success! Thanks to all those who joined us in celebrating. If you couldn't make the event or would like to learn more about LILA's curriculum, please click here.

  • Join LILA families for our 2nd Annual Turkey Bingo event on Friday, November 21st at 6:00 in the gym at the main campus.  Every winner will walk away with a frozen turkey, and our last coverall game will be a gift card prize. Cost for Bingo is $5 per person. Pizza, pop, and water will be available for sale.  New LILA t-shirts will also be available for sale. See you there!!

  • Both the Main Campus and Headwaters cafeterias will soon be switching from using peanut butter to sunbutter in sandwiches, starting January 1st. The cafeterias will also continue to provide a nut-free table as needed. Students may continue to bring peanut and nut products from home.

  • Need a holiday gift for that hard-to-buy-for someone? A teacher? Hair stylist? Great Grandma Dora? How about a delicious smelling bag of fresh, Free Trade, Organic coffee?  Have a couple extra of those good smelling beans on hand for that friend who gives you a surprise gift this year, or for the host of a party or dinner this holiday season. Two more weeks for our PTO Coffee Fundraiser!

  • Brrr! It's cold! Remember to send children to school with labeled coats, hats, boots, snowpants, and gloves!
  • Students in grades 3-6 will soon begin taking practice assessments (called "OLPA") in both reading and math to prepare for the MCA standardized assessment given in the spring. There will be 2-3 of these practice sessions to give students a chance to familiarize themselves with the assessment and for teachers to target individual instruction as needed for each student.

  • There will be a Math And Science Family Fun Fair on Saturday, November 22 from 10am-4pm at the University of Minnesota. Kids of all ages are welcome! The event comes highly recommended from a few LILA families that have participated in years past.
