Congratulations to Mandarin kinder student Alexandra Wenzler for being one of 10 winners amongst thousands of entries in the national Scholastic Reading Clubs’ “Picture A Story” contest. After reading the story "Crunch, Munch Dinosaur Lunch!" Alexandra and her classmates drew pictures to represent the story.  Alexandra's prize was art supplies and books to share with her classmates.

  • Do your kids like the new drums at LILA? If so, please send a quick note to Profe Carlos (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or Profe Jody (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) to let them know how drum circle, world rhythms, and other drumming activities have affected your child this year. Comments are due this Friday, MAY 22 and will be used in a report to the SCVF (St. Croix Valley Foundation). The SCVF has supported music education for years, including granting LILA our drums!
  • All LILA library books (both Main Campus and Headwaters) will be due May 27, the Wednesday after Memorial Day Weekend. Of course, our amazing librarians would LOVE it if you could return them earlier!
  • Teacher Appreciation Week is over, but you can still say "Thanks!" to a LILA teacher through Facebook and Target will send the school $25 for each family's letter. Wow!
  • Where in the world is Shannon? She's just back from a jaunt to MADRID, SPAIN! Our risk-taking director met with nearly 60 candidates to fill positions at 7 school discricts offering language courses, including LILA, on behalf of the MN Dept. of Education. The trip was funded by a teacher exchange program arranged through the Embassy of Spain. This is the 2nd year Shannon has been selected to make the trip.
