Chinese New Year Celebration On Thurs., Jan. 19, 5-8p.m.

Join us for a fun and exciting evening of student performances, crafts, and Chinese food at the Main Campus!

Xīnnián kuàilè! (新年快乐) means Happy New Year! It's pronounced "sshin-nyen kwhy-luh." 2017 is a Year of the Rooster. Years of a Rooster include 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, and 2029; your Chinese zodiac sign is a rooster if you were born in those years. Roosters are trustworthy, hardworking, tender, determined, quick-witted, and compassionate.

Traditionally, families begin cleaning their homes and preparing for the festivities about a week or so before. The actual start of the 15-day Chinese New Year celebration is January 28. Learn more at

Conferences, Chili, & Lost and Found

Hannah Caring

It's Conference time! Students and teachers have been busily preparing to show off all that they have done this fall, as well as all they hope to do for the remainder of the year. Please make sure that you have signed up for both your Lower School AND Upper School student. If you are unable to make your conference, please arrange an alternate time with the teacher directly. Specialist teachers will be at Main Campus and would love to meet you and answer any questions you may have. Watch the next edition of the LILA Update for a link to their fall newsletter!

October Lost and Found

While at Main Campus, don't forget to check out two main attractions: the Book Fair (Library) and Lost & Found (below the cafeteria). While the above picture sure looks beautiful and organized, we do hope that all those lost items find their owners. The Book Fair will be open Tuesday from 3pm-8pm and Wednesday from 8am-3pm.

It's not too late to donate an item for the PTO Chili Cook-Off! Sign up at the following link so our very appreciative teachers don't go hungry!

From us at LILA, have a great long weekend, and we'll see your well-rested, healthy kids back at school on Monday!
