Support The LILA Foundation For The School’s Long-Term Success
To fully realize our vision as a leading International Baccalaureate language immersion school, Lakes International Language Academy (LILA) must be able to recruit and retain talented staff and provide opportunities for students and staff to learn and teach here and abroad. These are the reasons a group of parents and staff formed the LILA Foundation.
LILA Foundation Mission Statement:
To establish and maintain an endowment to be used to enhance the quality of education for LILA students. Our primary objectives are to:
- Promote global understanding through support of ideas and opportunities for LILA students and staff, such as travel abroad or scholarships.
- Enhance and enrich the student learning experience by developing talented staff through greater training opportunities, incentives, and compensation.
- Provide funding to augment current LILA programs.
Floyd and Jeanette Marcott Family Scholarship for International Travel
The Floyd & Jeanette Marcott Family Scholarship Fund was created with the LILA Foundation to provide financial assistance to students in grades 8-12 at Lakes International Language Academy for the purpose of international study. The total amount of scholarship distributed annually will be $2,000. This may be awarded to one eligible student or a maximum of four eligible students per year. The minimum scholarship amount will be $500. Recipients may only receive the scholarship once. Scholarships funds will be paid to LILA to cover expenses on the recipients' behalf. Applicants will be notified within one week after the application deadline. Application information for 2018 is available here; deadline is July 27.
The LILA Foundation Inquiry360 Grants are an example of our commitment to providing opportunities for staff to travel abroad for professional development experiences that support IB values, such as open-mindedness and risk-taking. The grantees then come back to LILA to share their learning with other staff members and students. Check out some of the grant experiences so far, such as Janet Dieter's trip to rural China or Katie Henry's trip to Guatemala.
Help Make A Difference
The LILA Foundation endowment goal is to provide financial support to achieve our goals. As a charter school, LILA receives far less funding per student than our neighboring public districts. LILA has a reputation of doing more with less; however, we believe our students and staff deserve more.
Please contribute and support the LILA Foundation. Consider making a donation via our MNGives page as a memorial, legacy tribute, or anonymous benefactor. Does your employer offer corporate matching? Check this list of Minnesota Corporate Matching Gift Programs and ask your HR department about how to initiate matching donations. We appreciate your generosity.
Join the LILA Foundation and help keep LILA strong for years to come.
